TINA LEA EDWARDS
APPRENTICE, MUSICIAN, CLOWN-OWNER, & HOOLA-HOOP INSTRUCTOR
What do you get when the person who cuts your hair is hoola hooping? Well you won't find out at Wink.
BUT! stylist Tina Lea has tastes as various and interesting as you can imagine, and yet somehow not surprising considering where we live. She is a stylist, make-up artist, musician, hoola-hoop instructor and retro/Vargas girl/pin-up look-a-like.
Before getting into cosmetology, Tina worked in sales and customer service for a national retailer for 15 years, which is why she's not just an interesting person, she's also client-focused and a great listener. She was a make-up assistant for movies for a few years and worked as a stylist in Austin, Texas before settling in Asheville.
"I'm still learning a lot and finding my niche, but I currently get the high-pitched-squealing-school-girl excited when I get to do up-dos, especially intricate styles that incorporate twists, loops, and braids to provide a unique outcome specific to the client's wishes.
Tina Lea is taking advantage of all of the training that goes on at Wink and absorbing the pace, the fun and the people that make our salon so special. When she's not performing, playing music or making others even more beautiful, Tina hikes with what she calls her clown: a dachshund-lab pup named Elvira.
"Through the non-pretentious family vibe that goes on behind the scenes and the wealth of knowledge that is so graciously passed on to me through Wink University, I know that I am exactly where I've always wanted to be. I moved to Asheville to be closer to family while still being able to pursue my dreams as a stylist and musician. It's the best of both worlds!"
