SCROLL DOWN

why wink

Because this is not a branding stunt. We care.
It's illustrated in the way we think, operate and expand our business.
Caring happens inside and outside of our salon and within our relationships.
It's not abstract.
We want to learn together, grow together, reach out and give together and do our best for our clients, each other, our community and the environment.

WINK UNIVERSITY

Never Stop Learning. We’re serious about this.

Education is a big deal for us, because we want to do more than stay current.
We want to explore, invent and collaborate.

One of the ways Wink is exceptional (and we say this with humility and pride) is Wink University.
Wink U is our in-house education series hosted monthly. Every member of the Wink team has skills to share and gets an opportunity to showcase his or her talents by instructing a Wink U session. We also bring in top educators from Goldwell, KMS, Oribe, DEVA CURL and others. We've found that most of our stylists were attracted to Wink because of Wink U and our dedication to continued education. We all love our monthly gatherings to listen, learn and grow together.

We don't give lip service to environmental sustainability.

IT’S EASY THESE DAYS TO SAY, “WE’RE A GREEN COMPANY," BUT HERE ARE SOME PRACTICAL EXAMPLES OF HOW WE ARE DOING OUR PART FOR THE ENVIRONMENT:

Gas and tankless hot water heaters
Energy efficient lighting
Post-consumer recycled products
High efficiency and low flow toilets
Low and non-ammoniated products
A selection of eco-friendly and sulfate-free products, paraben-free products

We also serve beverages in glassware to cut back on waste and offer our clients organic and fair trade tea and coffee.:

Wink recycles ALL product canisters and containers, paper, magazines, shipping supplies, cardboard, plastics, ink cartridges, etc.

WINKING FOR GOOD

NO SALON IS AN ISLAND.
ACTUALLY, IT'S "NO MAN IS AN ISLAND" BUT WE'RE PRETTY SURE THAT APPLIES TO US TOO.

WINK WOULDN'T BE WINK IF WE DIDN'T BELIEVE IN THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PHILANTHROPY.
SO, WE INVEST IN OUR COMMUNITY.

We believe in the abundance theory, that an individual with a positive attitude and the right training can acquire personal abundance and make a difference in the lives of others.

We raise funds through outrageous fashion shows and artistic collaborations, we collect donations for many amazing local, charitable organizations in town, we even collect food and clothing for shelters. Thus far, we’ve teamed up with LEAF Outreach and LEAF International, MANNA Foodbank, American Cancer Society, Humane Society of Asheville, Green Opportunities, Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC, The Diabetes Center at Mission Health, and Steadfast House at Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry to raise money and awareness. Since we opened our doors in 2005, Wink has contributed over $30,000 in products, services and donations.

HUMBLE HAIRDRESSERS

This project came about through Wink's passion for the homeless in our community and discussions with like-minded friends and clients. Twice a month, every other Wednesday, Wink stylists set up shop at the Haywood Street Congregation to cut hair for the residents.

We galvanized our vendors and they showed up big time around this project. We received LOADS of donated products, cutting sheers, combs, etc., and we could not be more grateful.

Spending time, regularly, and getting to know others in the community has been an enormous gift to us and we love everyone we serve, in the salon or out. If you would like to know more about this cause, donate in the form of combs, products or other materials, please contact us. We also invite you to follow Humble Hairdressers - Asheville and spread the word.
